Neurodiversity Radio

Neurodiversity Radio with Heather McCrae

About Neurodiversity Radio: As Diverse as our Universe! Different guests, different topics,
something good and different to think about! Positive Radio to lift your Spirits! Beginning in April, Join me Monday Nights at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Call in or join the chat online and be a part of a great show! 1-877-296-0345 and 1-917-889-3818.

About Heather McCrae
Heather M. McCrae, MM MEd is the only Neurodiversity Coach there is! She is also a Neurodiverse adult.

When did she know she was a different thinker?
As soon as I could think, is the quick answer! Although there was a lot of drama in my house growing up, I never felt like I fit in anywhere.

I felt too old for the other girls my age, but was not accepted as an adult by other adults either. I always felt in between things-like the Goddess Persephone-in two worlds at the same time.

I was teased and bullied for being different-buck teeth, glasses and a huge vocabulary that was bigger than my age group, shy, frightened.

Most of the time, I couldn’t sleep at night because my head was so busy!

It wasn’t really until I was diagnosed with ADHD and Depression at the age of 40, that I realized my head is like a radio receiver! I always seemed to have about 30 different stations playing all at once, i.e. music, thoughts, messages, conversations, voices other than mine.

After lots of practice with meditation (I still need lots of practice-LOL!), I realized that when I quieted my mind, I could hear clearer messages from my Higher Self and the Universe.

Are you like me? Let me help you get to that quiet place so you can hear your Higher Self-your True Higher Self!

Join Heather every Monday @ 5pm PT/8pm ET starting April 9th, 2012! For more info on Heather, visit her website www.ProcessDifferently.com

March 17th – Laura Biering!
Laura Biering will talk to us about how to Risk our way to a reality that rocks! As a general rule, we are not taught to take risks – we are taught to play it safe. But life is not safe! And to embrace risk with courage and conscious intention is to create a life that fulfills your heart’s desire(s) and catapults you toward a more joyful daily experience. Laura is not talking about “crazy” risks that threaten life and limb. Her RiskADay program simply invites us to set an intention – every day – of taking risks, even small ones, that move us toward what we really desire. These kinds of risks may seem small to some, but taken daily, they build our courage muscle. Laura has written a book that guides you through the process, The RiskADay Journal: 28 Days to Being You Out Loud with Courage, Creativity and Confidence, which you can find at www.theriskadayjournal.com. Learn more about risking at Laura’s blog, www.RiskADay.com, and learn more about Laura through her website: www.truevoices.com.

March 24th – Diana Gabaldon!
Diana Gabaldon is the author of the award-winning, #1 NYT-bestselling Outlander novels, described by Salon magazine as “the smartest historical sci-fi adventure-romance story ever written by a science Ph.D. with a background in scripting “Scrooge McDuck” comics.”

The series, published in 24 countries and 21 languages, includes a nonfiction (well, relatively) companion volume, The Outlandish Companion, which provides details on the settings, background, characters, research, and writing of the novels. Gabaldon (it’s pronounced “GAH-bull-dohn”—rhymes with “stone”) has also written several books in a sub-series featuring Lord John Grey (a major minor character from the main series): Lord John and the Private Matter, Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade, and Lord John and the the Hand of the Devils).

Dr. Gabaldon holds three degrees in science: Zoology, Marine Biology, and Quantitative Behavioral Ecology, (plus an honorary degree as Doctor of Humane Letters, which entitles her to be “Diana Gabaldon, Ph.D., DHL.” She supposes this is better than “Diana Gabaldon, Fed.X”) and spent a dozen years as a university professor with an expertise in scientific computation before beginning to write fiction. She has written scientific articles and textbooks, worked as a contributing editor on the MacMillan Encyclopedia of Computers, founded the scientific-computation journal Science Software Quarterly, and has written numerous comic-book scripts for Walt Disney. None of this has anything whatever to do with her novels, but there it is.

She and her husband, Douglas Watkins, have three adult children and live mostly in Scottsdale, Arizona. www.DianaGabaldon.com

May 7th – Dream Coach & Author, Doreen Fulton!
Doreen Fulton coaches Moms of Young Adults with Special Needs and is passionate about giving voice to unspoken dreams and empowering Moms to think and act in new ways that give her stamina, strength and resilience. She knows from personal experience how isolated, forgotten and unheard she felt while advocating for her children with special needs. She remembers not being able to sleep at night, always running late, never feeling caught up, and feeling overwhelmed with work, doctor appointments, meetings with school administrators and family commitments.

While most Moms with Young Adults can often envision a time when their adult children will be grown and gone, you as a Mom with a Young Adult with Special Needs, may not be able to see an end in sight. After high school, the young adult with special challenges needs your help more than ever to make a successful transition into the world of work. Unfortunately, you are often worn out, tired, and frustrated and do not have the support you need in managing the many challenges you face.

As a human resource professional and certified Dream Coach® with a Master’s Degree in Education-Counseling, Doreen had helped countless young people to move in the direction of their dreams, to get scholarships, to find satisfying careers and to embrace their strengths and innate talents while actively supporting their peers in the transition process. She decided to use these skills to help her own children and others like them who struggled with academics.

She customized the proven transition process and developed the An IEP for Me! Group Coaching Circle to help Moms, Educators and Advocates in developing their own Individualized Empowerment Plans.

Knowing that dreams work best when shared, she called on me to join her in this outreach activity. Doreen and I will discuss what you can do to confront the myriad of responsibilities you face as a parent, educator or advocate.

Benefits of the call:
1. You will realize that you are not alone;
2. You will be given an opportunity to continue your work with Doreen and Sandra Pearson from Our Special Families Village and develop your own Individualized Empowerment Plan
3. You will encourage you to acknowledge your abilities, to affirm your values, and to validate your goals.

Doreen has written Finally, An IEP for Mom! Her story is featured in the Pebbles in the Pond Book which will be released on May 20th!

Doreen has recently shared her Believe in a Ray of Hope Visioning Formula with the Pebbles in the Pond Community and invites you to her upcoming free webinar: “If Mama Ain’t Transitioning, Ain’t Nobody Transitioning!” Register here: www.believeinarayofhope.com/if-mama-aint-transitioning-a-webinar-just-for-you

I hope you will join Doreen and me as we discuss what comes next.

June 25th – Inclusion Teaming Founder/Director, Catherine Hogan!

Catherine Hogan is the Founder and Director of Inclusion Teaming, a non profit corporation.

The mission of Inclusion Teaming is to reduce bullying and facilitate talent through communication diversity training where challenged communicators and traditional communicators learn from each other.

Catherine is a licensed clinical social worker and certified school social worker. Catherine has devoted her career to understanding behavior in terms of brain based differences. Her interest developed at Smith College where she was an active member of the 504 Committee and the Mayor’s Committee on Handicapped Affairs. Catherine worked in schools for special needs learners and began to recognize how interpretation of behavior is influenced by the limits of the observer’s knowledge on how other great minds process information. Catherine was also a clinical supervisor at the Yale Child Study Center and an educational advocate. She is member of the ethics committee for the National Association of Social Workers, CT Chapter. Catherine founded Inclusion Teaming because she knew that challenged communicators needed real life opportunities to practice skills and traditional communicators needed knowledge that helped them integrate others effectively in school and workplace teams.
